Pascal Moraguès

Pascal Moraguès is considered one of the most relevant clarinetists and teachers of our time.

1st Solo Clarinet of the Orchestre de Paris since 1981, Pascal Moraguès is a Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) and the Reina Sofia Music School in Madrid.

Throughout his career as a soloist, he has collaborated with renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim (who invited him to be, at the age of 18, the 1st Solo Clarinet of the Orchestre de Paris), Pierre Boulez, Semyon Bychkov, Carlo-Maria Giulini, Zubin Mehta, Emmanuel Krivine, Franz Brüggen, Louis Langrée and Stephan Sanderling.

He is a member of the Moraguès Quintet, the Mullova Ensemble, the Katia and Marielle Labèque Ensemble, and is regularly invited as clarinet soloist by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In the field of chamber music, he has played with Sviatoslav Richter, Christian Zacharias, Daniel Barenboim, Elena Bashkirova, Christoph Eschenbach, Pascal Rogé, Christian Ivaldi, Brigitte Engerer, Itamar Golan, Stephen Bishop, Oleg Maisenberg, Joseph Kalichstein, Schlomo Mintz, Joshua Bell, Yuri Bashmet, Gary Hoffman, Nathalia Gutmann, and Felicity Lott; with the Guarneri Trio, with the string quartets Borodine, Sine Nomine, Carmina, Amati, Prazák, Lindsay, Endellion, Jerusalem, Ysaÿe, and Parisii; and regularly collaborates with the DSCH Shostakovich Ensemble, with whom recorded an album with the Beethoven Trios, which received great reviews.

His recording of the Brahms quintet with the Talich string quartet is now recognized as a reference.

Pascal Moraguès performs regularly in the most prestigious international concert halls, such as London's Wigmore Hall, Vienna's Musikverein, Berlin's Konzerthaus, New York's Carnegie Hall, Washington's Lincoln Center, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

He regularly gives concerts in the United States, Australia, the Far East and Europe, and frequently conducts masterclasses.

He has made many recordings with great musicians such as Sviatoslav Richter and Viktoria Mullova and with the Moraguès Quintet, and has received several international awards.
