Application Regulations - VERÃO CLÁSSICO Masterclasses 2024

  1. VERÃO CLÁSSICO Masterclasses are intended for music students, professional musicians and teachers, who can apply in the modalities of active participant (categories: soloist and chamber musician) and listener. The teachers will give classes on technique and musical interpretation, based on the works presented by the participants.
  2. There are two modalities of participation in VERÃO CLÁSSICO Masterclasses:
    1. Active participant (categories of soloist and chamber musician), entitled to:
      • Three lessons of Instrument or Chamber Music, depending on the participant’s category. Possibility of adding extra lesson(s), to choose at application.
      • Practice rooms (availability of 2 hours a day, at least).
      • Possibility of attending all Masterclasses, from July 22nd to August 3rd.
      • Eligible for VERÃO CLÁSSICO Prizes.
      • Participation in the concerts of VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival, upon selection.
      • Collaborative pianists in the Masterclasses, and concerts if necessary.
      • VERÃO CLÁSSICO 2024 kit offer: t-shirt, pencil, bag, etc.
      • Certificate of attendance of Festival and Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO.
      • Free entrance in all concerts of VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival, from July 22nd to August 3rd.
    2. Listener, entitled to:
      • Possibility of attending all Masterclasses, from July 22nd to August 3rd.
      • Free entrance in all concerts of VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival, from July 22nd to August 3rd.
      • Practice rooms, when available.
      • VERÃO CLÁSSICO 2024 kit offer: t-shirt, pencil, bag, etc.
      • Certificate of attendance of Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO.
  3. In the Masterclasses of instruments with more than one Professor - Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello - participants will be able to choose, when registering, their option of applying for one or more Masterclasses, being assigned 3 lessons with each selected Professor.
  4. Chamber music ensembles may be duos, trios, quartets, quintets, etc, and will have classes with one or more Professors, according to the instrumental formation, the proposed repertoire and the evaluation and selection of applications. For the Chamber Music Masterclasses, each musician should apply individually and mention in the application the other ensemble members’ names.
  5. Participants (soloists and ensembles) must present at least three musical works or three movements of a work.
  6. All active participants are candidates for VERÃO CLÁSSICO Prizes (in the categories of the various instruments and chamber music), whose jury is formed by the Professors. At the end of VERÃO CLÁSSICO, diplomas will be sent to the prize winners. Some prize winners might be invited by VERÃO CLÁSSICO for next seasons’ concerts of orchestras and festivals in Portugal.
  7. Fees:

      * Reduction of 20% for participants who are studying in Portuguese institutions of basic, secondary and higher education:

      Extra lessons available for active participants (soloists or chamber musicians):

      In case of unavailability of the Professors' timetable for the extra lessons, the value of the extra lessons will be fully refunded to the participants.

  8. Application:

    Application can only be made here and should include:

    • Participant's Identification.
    • Artistic Curriculum Vitae.
    • Proposed works. Possible amendments until April 15th.
    • YouTube, Vimeo or GoogleDrive link(s) of soloists or ensemble's video or audio recording(s), with a duration between 3 and 10 minutes, with 1 or 2 works

    Application deadlines:

    • 1st phase: February 29th
    • 2nd phase: April 15th

    After April 15th, it is still possible to send a registration request by email to info@veraoclassico.com, which will be considered if there are places available.

  9. Payment:

    Payment must be made online, at the moment of the application, with a credit card.

    Payment receipts will be sent by e-mail together with a confirmation of the application.

  10. If the number of applications exceeds the number of vacancies, a selection of participants will be carried out, based on the curricula and the video recording(s) of candidates.

    The result of the admission decisions will be communicated to candidates at the latest by April 30th.

    Candidates not selected as active participants will be totally reimbursed with Masterclass fee and will have the right to become a listener participant at no additional cost.

    Candidates who cancel their application until April 15th will be reimbursed with 50% of the Masterclass fee.

    Application fee is meant to cover administrative costs and is non-refundable.

    After April 15th there will be no refunds for cancellations, except for cases of force majeure.

  11. By applying to VERÃO CLÁSSICO Masterclasses, participants agree that photos, videos and recordings of Masterclasses and concerts may be used for non-commercial goals.
  12. All cases omitted in this regulation will be decided by VERÃO CLÁSSICO Professors and the Pedagogical Direction.
